More commonly, it is known as flu. It affects the upper respiratory tract, the nose and throat. At times, the infection spreads its tentacles to lungs and bronchi also. Influenza Symptoms

Influenza strikes suddenly. It usually begins with chills, fever, headache, and severe muscular pains. The patient feels miserable and weak. There is an inflammation in the nose and throat, which may spread down the windpipe to the lungs, resulting in a sore throat, cough, and running of the nose and eyes. In milder cases, the temperature rises to 39degree C or 102degree F, and in severe cases, it may go up to 40degree C or 104degree F. The consequent weakness and fatigue may continue for several weeks. The most common symptoms are :
  • Chills and fever
  • Headache
  • Weakness in the body
  • Severe muscular pain
  • Inflammation in the throat and nose
    Sore throat
  • Cough and running nose

Influenza Home remedie

  • Garlic is extremely useful in treating influenza, owing to its antiseptic properties. The patient should consume as much garlic as he can.
  • Turmeric is of great value in treating the problem of influenza. In 1 cup of warm milk, add 1 tsp of turmeric powder. Drink it 3 times in a day.
  • Take ½ tsp of long pepper powder and add 2 tsps of honey and 1 tsp of ginger juice in it. This mixture has to be taken three times in a day.
  • Onion juice has proved beneficial in the treatment of influenza. Take an equal quantity of onion juice and honey. Drink 3-4 tsp of this mixture.
  • Grapefruit juice is effective in toning your body.

Influenza Prevention

  • Wash your hands often. You can pick up cold germs easily, even when shaking someone's hand or touching doorknobs or handrails.
  • Avoid people with colds when possible.
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue and then throw the tissue away.
  • Clean surfaces you touch with a germ-killing disinfectant.
  • Don't touch your nose, eyes, or mouth. Germs can enter your body easily by these paths.
Try to Avoid Getting The Flu

A flu shot can greatly lower your chance of getting the flu. The best time to get the shot is from the middle of October to the middle of November, because most people get the flu in the winter.
The shot can't cause the flu. But you may feel sore or weak or have a fever for a few days.
